Ascertaining size of a cube?

  • Hi,

I've recently started to use Analysis Services Version: 8.00.194. with SQLServer 2000.

I've noticed that when processing a cube -MOLAP- the storage size for the aggregations is roughly a factor of 10 larger than the size given in the meta data tab for the cube. Does anyone know which is the correct figure or if there is a way of ascertaining the size of a cube in some other way?

    Thanks

    K.

  • I think we used to use Windows Explorer to get the properties of the relevant cube folder in the data directory.  AS it's MOLAP all of the data and aggregations (and dimensions) should be stored in that one directory.

  • Hi,

Doh! thanks that's exactly what I needed. The meta data report is correct - or more accurately it's the same value as appears in the folder where the cube is stored -  which makes me think I’m not understanding what AM is telling me when it's calculating the aggregations, oh well I shall look forward to finding out

    Cheers

    K
