Like we use reports on web application, can we use it on desktop applications?

Yes - provided you are using .NET.
You can also do it on VS6 or earlier but it will be a lot harder as you will need to call the .NET component so will need to look into interop.
I've no idea if there is any way for non MS systems.

You can embed the .NET components on your applications forms.

i am using VS 2012 for desktop application, My question is how can i use report viewer in my desktop application to generate reports. Is MS giving any reporting tool to desktop applications? or we have to use Crystal Reports?

If someone is using report vierwer in desktop, I need some sample code or procedure to achieve SQL reporting...
