After playing around with this I now have the solution for you.

In the parameter:

Go to default values

Select Specific Values

Enter the Value(not the label)

i.e.

id name

1 UK

2 USA

3 Spain

You need to enter 1 in the Specific Value, not UK.

This will default the drop down to

id 1

name UK
