• Check the Application and Security logs in Event Viewer.

    Services often fail to start because they do not have the correct privileges. If this is the case, and you have Audit: Logon Event: Failure configured in Windows, then you will get an entry in the Security log. Check the Logon Type and compare it to the information here http://www.windowsecurity.com/articles/Logon-Types.html
