Scorpion, your response seems to cover a lot of how things "should" work. What I like about this article, and the other one by Chris that I've read, is that they come in from a point of view of "forget how things 'should' work and let's deal with how things DO work".

As I'm reading this, it feels like I'm reading a copy of How to Win Friends and Influence People translated for the technical mind. And anyone who wants to become more than just a programmer (with all the income and bene's that come with that) should read that book too. Yeah, it sounds like a weird title, but the information in there is worth millions.
