    What's the difference between clustered & non-clustered index

    What's the difference between blocks and deadlocks

    What kind of recovery models does a database have (and we'll give hints on this one)

    What kind of backups are available (and yes, we'll give hints on this one too)

    What's the difference between UNION & UNION ALL

    Assuming they pass these, in the phone interview was how they go about performance tuning an unknown situation on a server, and what they know about query hints.

    That's it. Most of this information hasn't changed radically since SQL Server 6.5, so anyone with any degree of real experience should be able to answer the stuff... I've got sheets & sheets of interviews with wrong answers on most of those questions.
