Interesting thought. I thought my most successful IT group was one where we released a new version (web apps) every Wed, tackling things that could be done in 1 or 2 weeks only. It's similar to a scrum/Agile methodology, but the one week time frames with weekly resets allows tremendous flexibility and the ability to move directions quickly.
