We were going to move our databases from SQL Server Enterprise to SQL Server Standard Edition. During a meeting with a licensing 'expert', we were informed that the Enterprise licenses we own are perpetual. We own it, we can't discontinue. Never heard of that (what do I know). Cost savings went right out the window.
My question - what are the pros and cons of going with perpetual and subscription based licensing? Anyone have any thoughts on perpetual? URLs / comments are appreciated. Thanks.
