    Hi All.

    i have to tables like patient table with columns(patient name, DOB,Age,Sex) and table2 with column (regno).

    i want to insert the registration number as first 3 characters of first name+DOB+sequence number patients in stored procedure in sql server.

    Ex;

    patient name- Avinash

    DOB-: 25-08-1990

    Age- 23

    sex- M

    i want to display the output for registration number on second table like --- Avi2508199001

    first 3 letters of name plus Dob plus sequence number.

    In order to help we will need a few things:

    1. Sample DDL in the form of CREATE TABLE statements

    2. Sample data in the form of INSERT INTO statements

    3. Expected results based on the sample data

    Please take a few minutes and read the first article in my signature for best practices when posting questions.

    I would HIGHLY recommend NOT doing this. You are going to regret combining multiple datapoints into a single column at some point. Shoving multiple pieces of data into a single column violates 1NF. Why make things harder on yourself like this?
