    Hi,

    I work in a system administrator type role, managing and supporting things like server 2008, local network, AD, exchange, patching, workstation etc.

    I also have been doing ssrs reports over last year or so and have been working with SQL server.

    I am interested in doing sql server exam, but will this do me any good?, and what career path could I take?.

    Doing exams will force you to learn about things that you haven't used in your daily job, so it will expand your knowledge on SQL Server. You might not be a professional in it, but at least you know it's existence. (for example, I know all the types of replication, but I'm not an expert in setting it up)

    There are about 3 career paths in SQL Server:

    * DBA (on-premises and/or in the cloud)

    * database developer

    * business intelligence developer

    You don't need to do just one, you can mix them up a bit, but it is pretty hard to be proficient in all 3 at the same time.

    Need an answer? No, you need a question
