When I interview people, I always ask somewhere during the interview if they play a musical instrument. Even if they say they dabble in tuba or oboe, that for me is a plus. I cannot explain it; but they usually make better decisions and are more flexible in finding solutions. I think it has to do with the mathematics of music and the improvisation skills from playing with others.
