• I don't update things simply because there is an update available and we usually plan changes in advance as the servers are 24/7 so taking one down involves a lot of groups. Two minutes of downtime is five minutes too many as the saying goes. One thing I tend to do when it comes to changes is plan them and make them without telling anyone whenever possible. I do this because broadcasting a change will present the opportunity for people to report phantom issues or blame the change on something completely unrelated. That may sound nuts to many but it works well for me and if a problem is reported I'll know it is usually based on reality.

    Change may be inevitable but that doesn't make change for the sake of change a good idea. Like most things, risk vs. reward should drive the decision.
