SSC veteran,thanks a bunch for your detailed advise. I did have 2008r2 installed on my previous machine from 2010 to Sept 2012 (using vmware), but when I did not see anything as a junior DBA or Trainee DBA, I had to look at other options
I could do the following
Mirroring (Principal, Mirror and Witness)
Log Shipping
Backup and Recovery
User roles and rights
Performance Tuning
