Just to clarify this is a SQL 2000 forum and it appears that your question is about SQL 2005, so it may not be seen by a lot of people.

In SSMS go to Management > Maintenance Plans, right-click on the maintenance plan that failed and select View History. Post the contents of the error from the maintenance plan history here.
