great article. I liked the story it told. I imagine anyone who has been through it before recognized a lot of the issues you mentioned. Anyone who hasn't done it already should view it as a roadmap with carefully labeled potholes/pitfalls.

I wonder if anyone else read this title in their email subject as "Elven challenges..."? I was initially expecting Middle-Earth DBA building a single grand lookup table. 🙂
