If you look to the left side of the screen there is a link there labeled "Stairways." That is a series of lesson plans on various aspects of becoming a DBA. That's a great place to start locally.
After that, I have written a few chapters in a book called Beginning SQL Server Administration that might help.
From there, you just need to do the work. Volunteer at a local non-profit or school to build a database for them.
