@ThomasKeller - I found the information from SimMetrics (linky) to be quite useful - what i think would be really interesting to see would be a weighted version of this to give precedence to the first n characters in the string (as I've found that weighting the first four characters particularly for first name / surname validation) gives much more reliable results.
