I have a very wise friend who sends himself emails -- taking advantage of the Delay Delivery option in the email system so that in six months or a year, he receives "thinking of you" messages from his past self. Often he'll mention projects he intended to complete and ask himself how those are going. He also writes about his current troubles, and it gives him a chance to look back on what seems very minor when he receives them, and laugh at what he considered critical months ago. It gives him a chance to think back on what has happened, and when he replies to his future self, it gives a chance to put frame things in life on a much longer perspective.

Anyway, your editorial made me think of him, and I figured I'd share. 🙂
