What are you using to redirect the error?
I personally would use a conditional split with a bunch of rules to send any failed item to a separate stream, and then drop the 'failed' stream to an error file.
Never stop learning, even if it hurts. Ego bruises are practically mandatory as you learn unless you've never risked enough to make a mistake.
