Error 0: This server has been disconnected. You must reconnect to perform this operation.

  • Good afternoon all,

I have recently been getting the above error message when attempting to view 2 databases on a particular server, only when I try to look at the tables in enterprise manager.

I have run a checkdb on both databases and they run fine, and I can also select from the tables in QA without any issues, when I continue to get issues with the db's via Enterprise Manager.

Both databases were recently restored from backup copies of a live db. One is for use as a test environment, and the other is being used as a standby.

I don't know if this is relative to the problem, but I did find it strange that both databases with issues have a similar origin.

I have tried restoring from later/earlier backups, but there honestly does not appear to be any issues with the databases themselves, and the issue still appears.

there are several other databases on the server and none of the others has had any issues such as this.

Has anyone else experienced this problem before?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any responses 🙂

  • Did you find out what was causing this? I have a client that is experiencing the same issue....

  • Yeah, I managed to sort it out not long afterwards, can't remember off the top of my head what the cause/solution was, so I'll go take a look and I'll pm you...

  • it would be nice if you would post the solution to the forum so that others could benefit also 🙂

  • I found a workaround:

    1. Take all your DBs offline (right click on DB >> All Tasks >> Take Offline)

    2. Bring them back online again (right click on DB >> All Tasks >> Bring Online)

    3. Refresh them (right click on DB >> Refresh)

    😉
