This book is truly "gold". Designing the hardware/optimised database solution for a complex 24/7 high available SQL Server 2005 integrated app it's not a simple task and information on web is often not at the level of detail required for such a task. Also it's hard and costly to have a dev environment that would copy exactly the production one we can dream of - even with VMs, we are limited to 32 bit SQL clusters. Again, this book answers to many unknowns while in DB pre-capacity planning and designing phases.

It would have been much more useful to see a chapter with some "meat" in it instead of the "fluff" in Chapter 1. Hard to evaluate the book based on the material presented there.
