Forgive me if PostgreSQL is a dirty word here, but has anybody successfully set up the vCenter PostgreSQL database as a linked server in MSSQL (any 64 bit version)? I have the latest 64 bit PostgreSQL ODBC driver.
I seem to be going round in circles in the VMware KB with regard to determining credentials, port, database name etc. Every step seems to require another pre-requisite, which requires another and another.
Not a critical thing, just want to report on some near-real-time information about the vmware environment outside of the unholy mess of an interface that is the web version of vSphere, now they have deprecated the extremely useful, well designed windows client.
I figured one of the gurus on here may have had a similar requirement.
