Best Practices for Guest Account

  • Hi,

I was just wondering about the best practices for the Guest account.  Does this still holds true "SQL Server Books Online recommends that you disable the guest user in every database as a best practice for securing the database server. This recommendation does not apply to master, msdb, and tempb system databases"

    Yes it still applies.
Distribution database can be a bit different if using merge pull replication but you can specify that agent login specifically instead of relying on the guest account.
