mirroring: restore principal db into alternative db

  Hello,
  lets suppose there is a 2-node SQL mirroring configuration in High Safety mode (synchronous). There is a 3rd party backup system for backing up principal databases + trx logs.
  We want to simply verify 3rd party system restore functionality by restoring a db into alternate (non-mirrored, with a different name) database in the same instance. Are there any risks? I mean, when the backed-up database was originally principal, wont it complain about missing mirror db after restore and fills up Event Viewer with some error messages? Or is a "principal atribute" simply removed after restore?
