Hi All,
Anyone done multiple column groups before? Looking for any kind of gotcha's to watch out for, because I've just run into a problem where I have a 1st column group with a total, and now a 2nd such group. Both groups are filtered to ensure no duplication. But.... now I get no rows at all, despite knowing that the stored procedure behind the data is delivering over 2200 rows. Any ideas? Sue H ?

Figured out the problem. It was not the column groups at all. Just hate it that VS with Data Tools makes it so easy to miss the real problem.

Sorry I missed this - if it's kind of like a stepped report but with multiple row groupings, they are just obnoxious. You end up doing a lot of row groupings but I remember not getting any data before. It's just a matter of doing everything in the correct order and you never get a helpful message along the way. Create a group and the total, create the next row grouping group and the total, etc.

Yep, I hear ya. It's crazy what happens when you try to make changes. Things move outside of existing groups and then you can't put them back inside, and then you have to start over, which is what I did. I created a new matrix and then just copied cells AFTER having ensured my new cells were inside the group. I designed the sproc to deliver a separate set of rows to feed each column group. That way, the two sets of data only share certain columns in common, to handle the row group, and then the row groups combine with the column groups to take care of the rest.

Hey Microsoft... VS is nice, but it needs some serious thought to go into making changes and how that affects your row and/or column groups...
