  Hi,

  When partitioning data from a table do I need to have a separate filegroup for each partition? 
  Can we use the same filegroup for several partitions?

  In the scenario of the number of partitions being dynamic it becomes more difficult to determine the Filegroups...

  Nope, you can have all of your partitions in the same filegroup - An example here.
