Hi out there,

We are running a pretty important application on SQL server 2012 and the application will be upgraded within a few months (with the posibility to use a SQL 2016 environment).
Due to finances and lack of time (to set up a complete new SQL enviromnet for SQL server 2016 (containing 50 VMs and 5 Physical servers)) our management is about to decide to still use the old SQL server 2012 environment for at least 12-18 months altough I strongly recommended to start building a new 2016 environment.

What will be the issues we gonna face continuing SQL server 2012 redagding techniques and regading MS-support ?

Mainstream support for 2012 ended at juli 2017 and extended support will end at juli 2022
What will be the limitation using the extended support (and do we have to contact MS to use this extended support)?

Please can someone help me out on this (because time is running out to decide).

Regrads,
