Hi,
I need some help trying to get file loading working with SSIS (2016) from flat files to SAP ASE( V. 16).
Whatever I try I get errors about missing Mapping Files, when I look in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\140\DTS\MappingFiles
I can see lots of XML Mapping Files for other RDBMS's like Oracle, DB2 etc but nothing for ASE.
Can anyone direct me as to where I can find the relevant Mapping Files for ASE ?
Thanks !

First, outside of whatever error, did you download and install an ODBC or OLE DB driver/provider for SAP ASE?

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. Yes I installed the Sybase Open Client s/w or Sybase SDK as it is known now. That installs to C:\Sybase\DataAccess64\ODBC but I couldn't find any XML mapping files in there
anywhere so I was at a bit of a loss as to where to go next. I guess Sybase is pretty low down on MS list of priority RDBMS's to integrate with which is why they don't supply one out of the box !

I think the mapping files are only used with the import/export wizard so you may want to try just a normal SSIS package. You could manage the data types that way.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for your suggestion. In fact SSIS is where I started 1st but I got a very similar message. I guess I could spend time trying to create a mapping file from scratch
for mapping ASE data types but I think we will look at alternative tools to loading files to ASE !
