SSIS file system task rename is deleting file after renaming file

  • We are upgrading form 2008 to 2017 and I am running into an issue on an upgraded SSIS package that uses a file system task to rename a file by appending a date to the file name.  This works fine in 2008 but during testing of the upgraded package, the file is being deleted after it is renamed.

I already tried to hard code the date into the file name and that attempt deleted the file as well.

    Any ideas?

Thanks from a 1st time poster!!

    Sincerely,
    Jerry

What have you looked at so far?   We can't see your package, so have you at least checked all the options for that file system task and verified that they at least appear to be set correctly?   Are there any external configurations being applied?  Or perhaps not applied because of other changes or something someone forgot to do, like migrate SSIS_DB ?

  • After additional research, it was suggested to use another file system task to rename another file in the same folder location inside the same package.  Not sure why but it worked.

    Thanks for your reply Steve!
