Source Assistant does not recognize SQL Anywhere OLE DB Provider

  • Hi,

Since a picture is worth 1024 words, please see attached screenshots.

In summary, I can create a Sybase IQ connection using the SQL Anywhere OLE DB Provider 11, but it doesn't show up in the Source Assistant.  And, as far as I can see, the Source Assistant is the only way to drop an OLE DB source into a DFT.

Finally, I was advised by an onsite SQL Server consultant/guru that ODBC was the connection type recommended by Microsoft.  To quote: "OLE DB was the connection type touted by Microsoft...until it wasn't".  However, OLE DB seems to be the default in SSDT, and my initial test of ODBC seems SLOWWWW.  But I can't really test it until I can get the subject issue solved.

    Thanks...
