Sql transaction replication deploys snapshot over and over in a loop!

  • Hello,
I have a weird bug where I create a snapshot with transactional replication set up.  It creates the replication snapshot and starts deploying to the subscriber.  It finishes fine it says "Delivered snapshot", but then is starts redeploying the snapshot and it starts all over!  I have never seen this and can't find anything out there about this?  Anybody know what's going here?  Appreciate the help.

    Thanks.

There was someone last year reporting the same thing. Never found the cause - they had also opened a case with MS and they had no idea either. They had made a change to the existing replication by adding a table. They pulled the table out and then added it back, redid the snapshot and everything was fine. You can try looking into the things suggested in that post. If it's not huge, I'd just try to do it over. This is the post:
    Transactional replication keeps applying snapshot

  • I saw that post too.  =)  Tried it no luck.

Tried what? There were a lot of things I had asked him to check - did you check all of those?
Is this a new subscription or is it a change to an existing system? Did you also try dropping the subscription and recreating it?

  • I tried everything you suggested except dropping the subscription and re-adding it.  I will try that.  It's a new subscription.

  • Just to update where I'm at with this.  I basically had to settle with just replicating everything except the nonclustered indexs.  For some reason when I excluded the indexs it did not loop again.  I don't have time to dig any further, but I just wanted to post where I left off with this.  Please if somebody has anything else we can try or knows the culprit let us know.  Thanks all.
