SQL Server Full Text Search - Look for preceding and succeeding word for the search word

  • Hello All,

I've implemented Full Text Search and able to search with Contains. Is it possible to search the preceding and succeeding words for a given word (+1 word or +2 word or -1 word or -2 word)? If yes, Can anyone please help me constructing the NEAR FTS syntax.

    Example :
This study was undertaken to examine the incidence of gonococcal perihepatitis in adolescents as well as to study the effect
When I pass the keyword "perihepatitis", I also would like to search for its preceding and succeeding words and in the above case the
    -1(preceding) would be "gonococcal"
    +1(succeeding) would be in

How can I do this with NEAR FTS query? I may also want to search for -5 and +5 words as well. I'm aware of +5 with 'near((perihepatitis, adolescents),5)'. But how to retrieve the -5 th position word?

    Thanks,
    Pavan
