We are looking into ASR as a possible DR solution for on-premise SQL Server recovering to Azure IaaS. A call has been placed with our Microsoft TAM to understand if ASR can handle SQL transactions, but I wanted to see if anyone here knows if ASR has the ability to use AlwasyOn for database recovery. We have a Gartner document showing an ASR solution where ASR handles all application and web servers, and AlwaysOn addresses SQL recovery. The document wraps both forms of recovery under an "ASR Solution", leaving us with the impression that ASR may integrate with AlwaysOn. Is this the case, or is AlwaysOn administered outside of ASR?

Thanks, Dave
