For a customer we have to move the existing Azure SQL Server VM to a new environment. The customer does not know if the existing VM was based on a fully licensed image from the gallery, or on a BYOL image.
I assume there must be a way to differentiate between those two option: otherwise, how can Microsoft Billing calculate the correct cost for the VM?
But was is this difference?
In other words. how can I check wether a license on SQL Server originated in the gallery or was a BYOL?
