Daughter seeking help -- Awesome Internship Opportunity Abroad in Ireland

  • My daughter, Kylie, is currently a Freshman at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI and is a Cyber Threat Intelligence and Defense major (or simply put: cyber security major).  She was accepted into an Overseas Internship Program and will be going to Dublin, Ireland next year.  As the dutiful dad, I am working hard at helping her by paying for this and her college.  However, she is ever the independent minded person and trying to find ways to make this a reality rather than depending on dear old dad.  As such, she has setup a GoFundMe page and is asking for help to make this unique opportunity a reality.  IF anyone would like help her out, and indirectly me, here is the link to her page:

  • I tried to throw a few bucks to the cause but got the following message...

There's an issue with this Campaign Organizer's account. Our team has contacted them with the solution! Please ask them to sign in to GoFundMe and check their account.

Weird, Steve contributed without issue.  I'll let her know.

  • Everything should be good.  If any problems please let me know.

It worked. Put $20 in the hat. Good luck on the fund raising. She's going to love Ireland it's absolutely beautiful...
Just make sure she gets the premo insurance if she rents a car. The bastards not only drive on the wrong side of the road, they do it from the wrong side of the car... and most roads are only a few inches wider than the cars... :Whistling:

Thank you.  And even though it has been 35 years since I left England, I remember the traffic off base, including the restricted bridges where traffic from only one direction can cross at a time.

For some reason I always thought you were in the US... Being that you're in the UK (and used to driving on the wrong side of the road from the wrong side of the car), I imagine she'll fair far better than I did.

You misread that, I haven't been in England for 35 years.  I was there between Jan 1979 and July 1981.

  • Yup... I read it as, "I haven't been out of England in 35 years"...
In that case, I'm back to my original suggestion... Make sure she doesn't skimp on the insurance. 😀
