Maintenance Plan for backup of everything else other than the Databases

    Hello All,

    Is there a possibility of creating a single maintenance plan (wizard) which can Backup everything else other than the Databases?

    Like: Linked Servers, Security Logins, Roles, and most important - SQL Jobs and Alerts and Maintenance Plans (others and itself).

    I don't want a 3rd party Commercial tool.

    Two thoughts on this one, DON'T use any Maintenance Plan Wizard thingy, secondly DO use Ola Hallengren's Maintenance scripts[/url].

    All the stuff you want to backup are stored in the system databases, just backup those!

    I had a look at Ola's scripts and it does not cover "other" elements of SQL databases to backup.

    User and System Databases are being backup daily, so I am not worried about that.

    It's everything else, mainly SQL jobs and Security Logins, Maintenance Plans, etc. I need to backup separately and be able to Restore them.

    I am in process of building another server using a different "server" name. Hence I don't want to restore all of the System databases directly there for the fear of using old server name in new server.

    And i want to upgrade from SQL 2008 to 2012 I want to restore these elements manually...

    I can do with combining various scripts in a batch script and run that once a week/month.

    All I need is a start in the right direction to Backup everything else other than User databases.
