Can anyone help me with this issue:
today i have a disk failure on my SQL Server 2000 MSDE SP4 (i think).
even though i have built the drive, but i cannot get the server to start still.
I get an error starting the service MSSQL$EVENTMASTER_DB Service
"Could not start the MSSQL$EVENTMASTER_DB Service on local computer.
Error 1067. The program terminated unexpectedly."
The second service is SQLAgent$EVENTMASTER_DB
Error 1068 The dependency service or group failed to start.
The first one needs to start before the second one.
I tried to run SQlServerAgent -v

It can't access the drive, it's an I/O error. You'll need to confirm that the drives are behaving themselves.
If they are, you've corrupted the master database. It's going to need a restore. This is severe. If you have a more experienced DBA on staff they need to get involved.

I check under 80\Tools\Bin. The file rebuildm.exe is missing on instance "server\ABC"
Can i use the SQL server 2K Ent/Standard CD to create a new sql instance then copy the file over to instance "ABC". Since i have not done this before, i have a question: will other issue be created? like crashing or deleting data from other instance on the same server.
