Forum Software question

  • Steve,

What software do you use for this forum? Is it portable to Linux or does it need a Windows OS?

I've been asked by a private group to create a forum for them, but the server is Linux and uses MySQL (Whoohoo! a new DB format & language to learn).

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks,

  • We use Instant Forums (www.instantasp.co.uk)

I have a number of enhancements I am meaning to ask them for.

We used to use Snitz, which is free and works well. Might also try looking at what some other forums use.

  • Brandi one of the best forum platforms out there for phpBB/MySQL stuff out there is phpBB http://www.phpbb.com/%5B/url%5D

    free, open source,

full featured easy to use, huge deployment so you can find a lot of stuff on forums for enhancements.

    hope that helps!

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate it.

Looks like I have major research to do on the issue. But at least now I know where to start. @=)
