SQL and Mc Afee

  • Hello and best wishes to you all, I'm totally unfamilliar with SQL, but that's gonna change!

Today I tried to install Mc Afee on my domain. Then I read something about SQL, because Mc Afee uses the SQL. I thought that installing SQL and Mc Afee would be a piece of Cake, for test purposes too. wwwwwwwwrrrrrrrrroooooooonnnnnnggggg . So I installed SQL2000 server, update sp4, no problem. Then I tried to install Protection Pilot 1.1, the application ask me to specify a server at port 1433, select a domain, specified NTaccount with a name and password, reenter the password, which I did, then the application tells me that it is unable to connect using the information provided, provide credentials again...

    So what's the problem here?

  • Try connecting with Data Sources in control panel and see if you can get a test connection to work.

Also, how are you specifying credentials. Which server name is going in?

  • I am having the same issue, we have 2 instances of SQL MSDE running on a 2003 SBS, Shaepoint and Backupexec. We cannot get this to work using the default port. Any help would be great. We have installed this so many times on other servers with no problems.

    Regards

    Dave
