distmdl files

    Hi,

    I came across files named distmdl.mdf, distmdl.ldf in the drive. I know these files are template for distribution db used for replication. I dont see any database in enterprise manager.

    So if someone sets up replication - is that when this distmdl db is visible in enterprise manager.

    If no replication is used - can these files be deleted.

    These files are just used a templates to create a new distribution database.  If you set up replication it will create a new database with new files, the distmdl files won't become active.

    Your server probably won't die if you delete these files, but surely you can spare the 3MB or so to just leave them alone?
