I've tried to install MSDE 2000 SP4 on Windows XP SP1 machine but the installation process failed with this message:
"Setup failed to configure the server. Refer to the server error logs and setup error logs for more information"
As for the setup log the command that caused the problem:
=== Verbose logging started: 2005.05.31. 15:49:28 Build type: SHIP UNICODE 2.00.2600.1106 Executing "c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\cnfgsvr.exe -V 1 -M 1 -U sa -I "MSSQLSERVER" -Q "SQL_Hungarian_CP_1250_CI_AS""
The cnfgsrv.out file contains this:
Starting Service ...
SQL_Hungarian_CP_1250_CI_AS
-m -Q -T4022 -T3659
An error occurred while attempting to start the service (1460)
SQL Server configuration failed.
I used the following command:
C:\MSDE\Setup.exe /settings "setup.ini" /qn /L*v C:\MSDELog.log
The setup.ini:
[Options]
SAPWD="sa"
SECURITYMODE=SQL
COLLATION="SQL_Hungarian_CP_1250_CI_AS"
DISABLEROLLBACK=0
I've tried everything (for 1 day) i found on the web but nothing helped:
- Changed the Computername uppercase
- Removed all registry keys for prevoius installation of SQL server 2000
Does anybody have a suggestion? I am desperate.
Thanks in advance
