Shrinking the database...FAST

  Hi all,

  I am doing an all nighter here on a Friday night. If anyone is still online, please help me with this...it will speed up things for me a lot.

  I have a database that is 107GB, but only 57GB of the space is used. I need to shrink this database before 9:00 AM tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't think that the shrink will finish by that time. Is there a faster way of shrinking the database? Would backup/restore remove the empty space? Will attach/detach remove?

  There is not a faster way.

  I'd do it in stages. Shrink to 80% full, then 70, 60, etc. Get as much done as you can. If it appears that it's not shrinking, then try this http://www.sqlservercentral.com/scripts/contributions/26.asp
