hi,
for two days now I am no longer able to kill processes using kill xy or enterprise manager. The message I get is 'Process ID xy is not a valid process ID. Choose a number between 1 and 32817'.This problem applies to all users I have tried and all these users could kill processes before. Our Server was reinstalled on new hardware two weeks ago since then we have locking issues and now this...
Is there a possibility to approach this problem? What information do you need to help me?
Thanks
Hubert

Have you tried using the KILL command from query analyser?

And the process does exist? If you run sp_who2 <Spid> does ti return a row?
Are you sysadmin on that server?
Has the problem been around since the rebuild of the server 2 weeks ago?

It does return a row. And I have re-started QA using exactly that for login who is specified in that row. He is a standard type login belonging to system administrators.

Sorry, forgot to answer your last question:
The problem came up only 2 or 3 days ago. Previously but after the setup of the new server it was possible to kill processes.
