Hi
Could any one please let me know how to patch SQL Server with SP4 and 2040 bit when it is in a failover cluster? Will patching the virtual server will effectively patch all the underlying server [Just as we do the setup] or we need to patch them one by one? Also how to manually failover the SQL node?
Thanks in advance for your help.

For Single node (active/passive) cluster, start sp installation from the active node and it will be installed on passive node...
For two node (active/active) cluster, start the installation once from each node....
You have to use the clusteradmin tool to failover manually...
Once you applied the patch make run the select @@version on both nodes to make sure sp installed correctly...
If your server is awe enabled you may need to installed cumulative patch because sp4 has bug...

unless I'm mistaken sql server sp's are cluster aware so you apply them to the virtual server.
