I think the security arms race has got a damn sight hotter. I feel that people are looking at only 2 perspectives on security patches when there is a 3rd.
Some security flaws require considerable skills to exploit. This is where AI really lowers the bar to entry.
I know some companies are complacent and too comfortable. I was privy to security scan results for a piece of high-end software. It was shocking how many unpatched vulnerabilities there were for which patches have been available for at least 10 years. Some of these were high-severity CVEs.
