My experience is that if you fail to communicate then the powers that be extrapolate to fill in the gaps.
And people think AI hallucinations are a new thing!
If you have bad news, deliver it while you have control of it. If you don't it will be delivered with embellishments and that way madness lies.

I totally agree with over communication along with being concise. I have been in IT for over 36 years and found this practice to be an imperative necessity. In a previous IT position, I had a colleague complain that I over communicated. I disagreed and continued.
