I never got to use Analysis Services. My company had me stretched with my workload and learning the parts of SQL Server relating to that workload. At the time, I worried about this gap in my knowledge. 20+ years on, I doubt I will ever need to use Analysis Services.
The majority of my studying has had to be outside of work hours. This wasn't a big deal for a technology I was actually using in my job/role. It's almost like a warm-down exercise after an intense gym session.
I've been required by companies I worked for to gain certifications as a cold, academic exercise under a tight deadline. I have found this both stressful and of limited value.
At present, I am finding that AI is giving me a lot of stress. I feel that I am burning the candle at both ends. At one end, I am trying to learn to use it properly. At the other end, poor use of it is multiplying my workload, as I have to review a deluge of enormous pull requests.
If the use of AI allowed responsibility and accountability to be delegated, then I would be tempted to step back and give it enough rope to hang itself. But the buck stops with seniors and principals.
Where AI is used properly, it is scarily good and useful. Its the "using it properly" part that is lagging behind.

I find that I need to think with AI a bit. Sometimes I'm not sure what guidance I want to give it. So I've started to timebox to small periods when I Can think about what I Want and what I ask. I might do some busy work while it's running, but I try not to get obsessive or do too much.
