I admit that customer satisfaction surveys sent out by myriad organisations after the merest contact with them have become one of my pet hates. I only fill them in if I particularly like the company or if I believe I have suggestions for how they can improve their customer service (a nice way of saying if I wasn't happy with my interaction with them). Most survey requests go straight to the trash folder. If enough others feel the same way, then I think we can consider the data collected from these surveys to be highly suspect. I wonder how long it will take companies to realise this.

One would be wise to consider that a HR survey may be a backdoor to find people who are not content in their job, instead of a genuine opportunity for employee feedback. Because of a certain level of suspicion inherent in them , I would not trust these surveys.

Same, I rarely spend time unless something stands out.

If I feel this way in a company, I'm looking for a new job. If someone is using HR to find people who aren't happy to let them go, that's evil.
If you don't trust the HR people to try and help make situations better for you, that's a bad sign

The single best customer satisfaction survey I've seen was in the Hartford Connecticut airport. When you leave the restroom in the main terminal area, there was a simple question: "How was your restroom experience today?" with a Good, Neutral, or Bad response. No disclaimers, no multiple questions, just "How was it?"
The only drawback was that it was after leaving the bathroom - would you press the buttons knowing it's probably the largest collection of germs and dirt...? 😉

I always find those "button" surveys in a toilet to be strange. Especially after the pandemic.

Slightly off topic Steve, but reading this: "If you don't trust the HR people to try and help make situations better for you, that's a bad sign" I'm retired now, but during my working life, at all the companies where I worked, HR was there to protect the company from lawsuits and to act in the employer's interests while preserving a veneer of concern for the employees. Sad but true. It was well-known at one of those companies that some of the junior HR staff, who had access to sensitive data about employees, were particularly vindictive and it didn't do to get on their wrong side. That does of course point to a defect in that department's culture and leadership. It was also quite some time ago, so possibly there is a more enlightened culture nowadays.
Perhaps this could be a subject for another editorial: "Do you trust your company's HR department"? The results might be eye-opening.

I once worked at a company where HR was referred to as "Human Remains". I think that says a lot about that company's culture.
