Hi I dont think i'm crazy. I had to get a new pc. And reinstalling vs extensions unfortunately became my dreaded nightmare once again. I went to extensions in vs, manage extensions, chose sql server integration services project 2022, followed all the prompts , restarted the pc and saw what you see below. i'm back in now and i see what i picked is what got installed. I dont think this is the ssis dev environ that i want, having worked in it for years. when i try searching for something else ssis related, the list is one of those lists that never ends. when i select this project type i dont see the usual generic package etc under a project under a solution. do i need to just search for downloads on the web and not use vs itself as a middleman togetting ssis installed?

yep, its always an adventure. I chose what you see below , noticed to the right that ssdt would be included, followed the instructions, and then in vs searched for integration services which unveiled the 3 flavors of ssis. i was able to import a project from one of our servers. with a little prodding the toolbox showed. i think im in familiar territory. nervous about finding ssas next. .. also about being prompted for a product key at a later date which i know i/we have but dont know how or if im going to be asked.

as i feared i now have to go in search of the analysis services extension. gonna lookup instructions on the web first. this extension didnt come along with ssdt. and from what i remember ihave to go thru similar steps for both soi i can open vs under my admin acct.

im not sure where my last post went but after choosing a very promising button for the ssas extension but not seeing ssas, i rebooted and finally saw what you see below. Back into familiar territory. This is crazy.
