hi im pretty sure i could trigger a page on a pager if i had to from t-sql.
but triggering a phone call doesnt appear to be as easy. does the community know for sure? perhaps of an approach that doesnt require i bring python , 3rd party software , maybe clr etc into the picture?
im waking up at 4:30 am every day to see how our nightly erp extract went for > 10 erps (double that in the future), failures just go to the next step. Now that we've doubled in size and we have time zones on both hemispheres, and we have more than just an erp extract to worry about, i'd like to be more proactive. i set up an sp (it emails) and agent job to detect when job steps failed. dw isnt tier 1 here otherwise i'd ask our support folks to call me.

Phone call? No.
But for mobile phone carriers with an email gateway you can send SMS via email.

Nothing to do with SQL but if you have an Android phone it looks as though Tasker can be made to play music:
iOS probably has similar apps.
ps This forum is getting even worse as my two posts went missing. This is my last attempt.

I have just had a look at this on an iphone. The iOS Shortcuts app can be used.
ShortCuts | Automation | New Automation
When: When I Get an Email Subject Contains 'asdfasdf' (Email the AppleId)
Do: Call (Have to call another phone.)
The phone I tested this on did not have music setup but presume that could be used as well.

thx Ken what do you mean by call another phone? Not the one where the sequence you showed was followed? Crazy!
